How to disable McAfee

How to disable McAfee. Do you have to install a program that requires temporary deactivation of the antivirus and would you like to understand how to do it? You should know that it is an easy task. All you have to do is go to the main screen of the software, select the function you want to disable (for example, real-time virus scanning) and click the corresponding lever.

Be careful, however, deactivating the antivirus, even if it is temporary, makes the PC vulnerable to cyber threats that can be found every day on the network.

How to disable McAfee in Windows

Before getting to the heart of this tutorial and explaining how to disable mcafee on Windows, I want to clarify that the guide was made with McAfee Total Protection, which is currently the most complete and popular version of the famous Californian antivirus.

If you want to temporarily disable McAfee real-time protection, start the antivirus by double-clicking its icon on the desktop or in the Windows notification area (next to the system clock), click the gear located in the upper right corner. Select the item Real-time scanning from the menu that appears on the screen.

At this point, press deactivate and use the drop-down menu that appears in the center of the screen to indicate the period of time during which McAfee protection should remain disabled. You can choose between 15 minutes, 30 minutes, 45 minutes y 60 minutes, or you can choose to re-enable protection only when the pc restarts o always (Not recommended choice!).

Finally click deactivate Located at the bottom right and McAfee's real-time protection will be suspended for the period of time you have chosen.

In case of any problem, you can instantly reactivate McAfee protection by going back to the menu ⚙︎> Real-time scanning and pressing the button allow.

If, on the other hand, you don't want to disable McAfee protection for the whole system, but only for some specific files, you can also:

Go to menu ⚙︎> Real-time scanning antivirus> allow to activate real-time protection (if necessary)>  Add files Located at the bottom right to choose the files to be excluded from real-time scanning.

In addition to a real-time protection module, McAfee also includes a scheduled scan, through which the program performs a complete control of the PC on established days and hours.

If you want to disable this function, open McAfee, go to the menu ⚙︎> Scheduled scan and press the button deactivate.

The most complete versions of McAfee, such as McAfee Total Protection the one I'm talking about in this tutorial, they also include other types of protection besides viruses and malware.

For example, going to the menu ⚙︎> Firewalls / Firewalls the program and pressing the button deactivate you can disable the firewall included in the program by entering the menu ⚙︎> Analyze vulnerabilities.

And putting the check mark next to Do not set a scan schedule (at the bottom of the window) you can disable automatic checking for updates for programs installed on your PC.

In short, all you have to do is open the program, click on the gear located in the upper right, select the function to be deactivated in the menu that opens and continue pressing deactivate present in the next window.

In case of doubt, all antivirus functions can be reactivated by going back to their respective menus and clicking on Activate / Enable.

If later, instead of temporarily disabling McAfee, you decide to completely uninstall the program, go to Home> Settings (or in Start> Control Panel, if you use a version of Windows earlier than 10).

Go to Application (o Uninstall a program, if you are using a version of Windows earlier than 10), select McAfee Total Protection from the list of programs installed on your PC and click the button uninstall.

A window will open called System settings, through which you can manage the start and select which software to start automatically when you log into Windows and which not.

Disable McAfee on iOS

Devices like iPhoneiPad they are not subject to malware risks (unless they are unlocked by procedures such as jailbreak).

However, McAfee has released its own application for iOS devices that allows you to locate devices from remotely and create a protected file in which save your most important files.

As it is not an antimalware application, it does not act in real time on the device (an operation that, by the way, for the multi-tasking structure of iOS, would not even be possible, if it were not for a few minutes) and, consequently, it is not necessary to disable it.

If you want to get rid of it because you no longer need it, uninstall it by doing a long touch on your icons by pressing (X) appearing in the upper left and confirming.
