How to conduct surveys in WhatsApp

You would like to know better the likes of your friends on a certain topic and, for this, you have thought about creating a survey on Whatsapp. There's just one "little" problem: you can't find a feature in the popular messaging app that allows you to do this. Well, it seems normal to me since, at least for the moment, WhatsApp does not integrate a similar function.

But don't worry: if you want, I can show you the operation of some external solutions that can offer you the possibility of creating surveys to share directly with your contacts on WhatsApp, both via direct messages and via Status. You see: by following my "tips", you will have no problem completing your technology "business" today.

So, you're curious to discover how to do surveys on WhatsApp ? Yep? Fantastic! Make yourself comfortable, take as much time as you need to concentrate on reading the following paragraphs, and most importantly, try to follow the instructions that I will give you carefully and scrupulously. Before explaining in depth how to do surveys on WhatsApp let me give you a little preliminary information that you must necessarily know before starting work. As I anticipated in the introduction to this guide, at the time of write this article, WhatsApp does not integrate a function that allows you to create surveys.

This means that, if you want to complete your "business", you must necessarily contact thirdparty services that allow you to create surveys and then share them on the famous instant messaging platform.

I guarantee that these types of services, many of which are completely free and easy to use, are a good compromise to create surveys in which your contacts can participate and excellently fill the lack of the "surveys" function in WhatsApp. Seeing is believing!

Services for conducting surveys on WhatsApp

There are tons of online survey services that you can turn to. But personally I recommend you Straw survey which, in addition to being 100% free, can be used both from the mobile phone and from the computer and allows the surveys created in WhatsApp to be shared very easily: let's find out together how it works.

Mobile Phone

If you prefer to act for smartphone, the first thing to do is go to the main Straw Poll page and type in the text field Write your question here, the question you want to ask your WhatsApp contacts.

Then enter the answer options in the different text fields Enter survey option, open the drop-down menu a little lower and select the option related to the verification of duplicate responses that you want to use for the survey: IP duplication check, if you want to make sure that duplicate votes are not allowed based on the IP address of the user; Duplication check cookies of navigator, if you want to ensure that duplicate votes are not allowed based on the browser used by the user, allowing multiple votes to be sent from the same IP address or No duplication checking, to allow users to vote as many times as they want without looking for duplicate responses.

If you want to enter the security verification within the survey, remember to put the check mark in the option Improve the presentation of spam. To allow attendees to select multiple answers, check the box instead Allow multiple responses to survey.

Once done, press the red button Create survey located at the bottom of the page, and on the next screen, first press the button. Share and then on the button Copy located in correspondence with the text field URL, to share the survey on WhatsApp by pasting the link you just copied in the chat ! of your interest. Pc

If you want to proceed from Pc, you have to follow practically the same steps that I indicated in the previous lines. Then go to the Straw Poll main page, write the survey question you want to share on WhatsApp in the text field Write your question here and write the different answer options in the text fields Enter survey option.

Then, open the drop-down menu a little further down and select the duplicate answer verification method: IP duplication check, if you want duplicate votes to be identified based on the user's IP address; Browser cookie duplication check, if you want to make sure that duplicate votes are not allowed depending on the browser used by the user or No duplication checking, if you don't want to use any duplicate answer check.

Placing the check mark in the box Improve the presentation of spam, then you can enter the security verification in the survey, while checking the box Allow multiple responses to survey will ensure that participants can select multiple answers.

Finally, click on the red button Create survey located at the bottom of the page, click the button Share and share the survey on WhatsApp using the link generated by the service, which you must copy by clicking the button Copy and then paste in the chat of your interest.

How to send surveys on WhatsApp

After creating a survey through the service I told you about in the previous chapters, you should share it on whatsapp : let me explain in detail how to do it both from the mobile phone and from the computer.

Android

To continue AndroidAfter copying the link of the survey of your interest (I explained how to do it in the previous chapters), start WhatsApp, touch the tab Charla located in the upper left, press the speech bubble located at the bottom right and select the group or contact name who you want to share the survey link with.

Now, touch the text field located at the bottom, press and hold your finger and select the item Catch in the menu that appears. Then touch the symbol Paper plane placed on the right to submit the survey link and wait for users to participate.

To know the answers given, tap on link that you shared with one of the survey participants and press the button results found on the web page opened in the browser.

If you want, you can also share the survey link on your WhatsApp Status. To do this, touch the tab State located at the bottom left of the main screen of the application, press the symbol of pencil located in the lower right and, after writing a short introductory message to the survey (eg. Would you like to take this survey? ), press and hold the text field in the center of the screen and select the item Catch in the menu that opens. To finish, share the survey by clicking the Paper plane located on the right

iPhone

To continue iPhone, after copying the link of the survey of your interest (I already showed you how to do it in the previous chapters), start WhatsApp, touch the tab Charla located in the lower right, press the pencil located in the upper right and select the group or contact name who you want to share the survey with.

Now, touch the text field at the bottom, press and hold your finger and select the item Catch in the menu that opens. Then touch the symbol Paper plane located on the right and wait for users to answer the question asked.

So to know the answers that are given, all you have to do is press link that you shared with one of the survey participants and tap the button results present on the web page that opens in the browser.

If you want, you can also share the survey link on WhatsApp status. To do this, touch the tab State located at the bottom left of the main screen of the application, press the icon pen located in correspondence with the newsroom My status and, after writing a short introductory message to the survey (eg. Answer this survey ... ), keep your finger pressed on the text field and select the article Catch in the menu that opens. Finally, touch the Paper plane located on the right and that's it.

WhatsApp Web / Desktop

If you want to proceed from WhatsApp Web / Desktop, after copying the survey link as I showed you in one of the previous chapters of the guide, access WhatsApp by connecting to its web version or using its official client for Windows or macOS (if you have difficulties to do this, you can proceed by following the instructions published in the tutorial on using WhatsApp on PC).

Then enter the chat where you want to share the survey link, right click writing bar from WhatsApp, select the item Catch in the menu that opens and press the Paper plane located on the right, to send the message.

To view the survey responses, you must click link that you shared with one of the attendees and click the button results present on the web page that opens in the browser. Simple truth?
